Soft Cactus, We Want Waves

16 December 2016 · Leave a Comment

Soft Cactus needs no introduction any more.  Only 2 years on the market, and can be found in almost every fabriclovers fabric stash.

We Want Waves

Today I can show you a next print. “We Want Waves”, of the colorrange  “Cristal Rose Blue”

Especially the “baby blue” ♥ I have a son who’s skin glows whenever he wears shades of light blue. In my head he is stil a sweet little baby, but in reality he is a playfull toddler .

The beautiful blue is combined with a touch of pink and gray. I feared for the pink. But I sold this fabric as a sea of tiny dolphins. As a proud kid of “the Dolphin class” he could only like that.

The shirt

I used a well known pattern for the shirt: Apple from Ottobre.

The sleeves were finished with ribbed jersey fabric to give it a slightly sportier look. For the yoke I used plain gray and finished it with a strip of white cotton that was put between like piping. At the pouch I added a little winkto an other fabric collection of Naomi.

The photoshoot

The day of the shoot is always a bit exciting. Because when it is no, it is No with this one.

But my fear was totally unjustified. The little mister became a model and followed the instructions that were given like a pro. (maybe I should consider hiring Debora for my next blog pictures 🙂 )

This mummy already shines with pride when looking at the result!

A little extra

To test my new gathering foot (what a convenience)  I made a quick skirt from the left over fabric. Simple but so cute!

Looking back

Soft Cactus has really grown in those two years, which shows in this collection.

Slightly tougher, but still with the same identity.

Just as this cheeky curly boy.
