Soft Cactus, We Want Waves

16 December 2016 · Leave a Comment

Soft Cactus needs no introduction any more.  Only 2 years on the market, and can be found in almost every fabriclovers fabric stash.

We Want Waves

Today I can show you a next print. “We Want Waves”, of the colorrange  “Cristal Rose Blue”

Especially the “baby blue” ♥ I have a son who’s skin glows whenever he wears shades of light blue. In my head he is stil a sweet little baby, but in reality he is a playfull toddler .

The beautiful blue is combined with a touch of pink and gray. I feared for the pink. But I sold this fabric as a sea of tiny dolphins. As a proud kid of “the Dolphin class” he could only like that.

In love

19 October 2016 · Leave a Comment

His sweetheart

My son Nand has a little sweetheart for two years already.

Last year he went to her birthday party with a skirt made by me and the opener:

Hi, I am Nand and I am in love with Nora

Understandable that he scored…

Pink & Blue

This year he was (of course) invited again.

I told him to ask her about her favorite colors. Pink and blue he told me.

He chose the fabric himself, they just delivered the perfect fabric. Pink blue with golden glitter hearts. As a boys mum,  I don’t know that much about girl stuff, but I do know that with hearts and glitters you can’t go wrong.

A new start

1 September 2016 · Leave a Comment

September 1st

A perfect day for a new start!

Not only for Nand, our oldest son, who started in the 1st grade today.

Also a great opportunity to revive my blog, with a new look and from now on also in English.

Mix and match

For Nand I made a schoolbag. Making the bag has a lot of simularities with creating my new blog

  • They were in my head for a long time, but I needed to gain some courage to start
  • It was not easy, at all. het was niet simpel, echt niet, perseverance and folowing manuals -not my cup of tea- was realy necessary
  • Once they started to form, I got more and more excited
  • I enjoyed the proces of choosing colors and patterns
  • Secretly, I’m very proud of the result
  • Both of them are not perfect, but made with love

The difference with the schoolbag is that there can and will be a lot tweaks for the blog. I decided to go life now! If I wait until I think it’s perfect, it will never materialize.

So the blog is far from finalized. There are most likely things that don’t work or that are little strange. Your feedback is very welcome!

Not a perfect picture

7 May 2016 · Leave a Comment

It is a little bit more quiet on the blog.
Not that I don’t sew anymore. More because my sewings dont gets on the blog.
Because:
– they are to simple
– I forgot to blog it
– it can’t be shown yet
– I want to make a tutorial of it

Or  I can’t get some good pictures, like the outfit I am showing today.
I tried, 3 times, took 255 pictures, most of them are blurry, not beautifull, with a strange face, or just wrong …

He looks nice in it, but apparently not on pictures.

There ‘s more to life than perfect pictures.

Nevertheless, tips are always welcome!

Het lillestoff boek: Mijn lievelingkleren

22 February 2016 · 31 Comments

*scroll down for English *

My paradise en Little paradise, beiden combineerbaar, en unisex.

The lillestoff book: My favorite clothes
One of the highlights last year was cooperating in the making of the lillestoff book.

For that I went for a weekend to Hanover, where the lillestoff headquarters are located.

Not only did I draw the pattern and the fabrics. Each designer had to sew the sample pieces on the spot for the pictures of the manual.

Can you imagine?
A weekend sewing together with the other designers (lady’s that I admire a lot) and and Daniele, the “boss” of lillestoff.
Quite exciting …

But is was really fun. Especially when I showed a few “Belgian” sewing tricks wich they did not know yet in Germany.
The photo location was the inspiring silkscreen workshop Orike Muth.  The designers, Danielle and Isabelle, the photographer turned out to be super cool lady’s.

I enjoyed it so much For the firt time sewing with my very own lillestoff fabric. And the result that turned out exactly as I had in mind.

So the pattern …
As I showed earlier, a shirt in jersey. But not only for boys, also a availaible as a dress pattern.

In the final version of the dress the ribbon has been left out, but of course it can always be added easily.

The fabrics that I designed for this pattern are two small geometric prints. My paradise and Little paradise, can both be combined, and are unisex.

The lillestoff book, “Meine Lieblingslieder” will be from March 1 in store.Of course it will be in German, but if you have a little sewing experience that can not be a problem.

Still looking for more? Soon I will show you my favorites from the book.

You can’t wait? Lillestoff made a nice lookbook of “making of”.

A secret mission, our favorite shirt.

17 February 2016 · Leave a Comment

If I wanted to cooperate on a secret mission?

That was the question Daniele from lillestoff asked me about a year ago.
Drawing a pattern and designing a fabric for the first lillestoff book.

Ofcourse I wanted to do that!

For a while I was searching for a nice and easy pattern of a shirt in a knitted fabric. So I dusted off my patternmaking skills and started drawing.

Can somebody squeeze me please?

17 December 2015 · Leave a Comment

About five years ago it hit me. I just having had my first child, it had to be the hormones. I had to have a sewing machine. Probable just another phase, so I went to the local supermarket and bought me a very basic first sewing machine.

Who would have thought…

The phase intrigued me, became a learning experience, became a hobby, became a passion and in the end became my dream job.

I never expected that…

About four years ago, I bought my very first “designer” fabric on the fabric sales evening of my sewing club “Schoten Stikt”. That I would be on the other side of those tables filled with fabrics, helped by the two most important men in my life.

I never would have thought…

Because of that one piece of fabric, I became a fan. I became a huge fan. Fan of colors and designs. Fan of the biological quality of lillestoff.

Who would have guessed…

I met Naomi during an evening of sewing for a local charity. We worked together to build her dream and a couple of months later I witnessed the birth of what nowadays is a well known design studio in the fabric world.

I never thought that would happen…

During a wholesale fabric fair I visited the booth of lillestoff. My husband chatted up the people of lillestoff and showed them some of my designs. Before I had the time to process it, I had just become a designer for lillestoff.

I could have never even dreamt that…

It all felt unrealistic, until last week. The friendly UPS lady brought me a parcel with fabric. A parcel that was just a little bit different then all the other parcels of fabric that are delivered here. The parcel with the very first fabric “Designed with love” by Pieke Wieke for lillestoff.

The fabric got the appropriate name “Squeeze me”. Sometimes I really feel like I’m living in a dream. Not that my adventure as a self employed person has always been nice and shiny.

If you ever pass me by, you’re always allowed to pinch me in the arm. Just to remind me how lucky I am. Lucky to be able to realise my dreams. Every day I can do what I love to do, at my own pace, but also when needed at the pace of our children, supported by everyone I hold dear to me.

So squeeze me…

Love at first sight

1 December 2015 · Leave a Comment

Once in a while it hapens to me ..
I fall totally in love
With a fabric

That also happend with the fabric of this shirt. A wonderful jeans jersey of lillestoff. With an amazing design of Susalabim.

I saw it the first time at the lillestofffestival. Somebody made a perfect shirt with it.

And then I did something that I never do…
Shameless copying.

But hey, the perfect patern, and the perfect fabric combination.
I couldn’t resist.

So I dont know who I should give credits to, otherwise I would certainly put a link here.
